Mercedes graduated in 2012 with a BA in Sociology and Biological Sciences. After starting in a position working with adults, she knew immediately that she actually wanted to work with children. Mercedes finished her M.Ed in Special Education in 2017. Her first application and interview led her to an early childhood special education classroom, where she found her passion for young children. She taught for 3.75 years before going into early labor with her daughter in 2021. After a four month stay in the NICU, a move from Alaska to Colorado and getting into the grove of being a mother, she decided to delve into childcare in February of 2023, starting with one extra child, then adding two sisters in August and a third family the following July. In her spare time, Mercedes plays and watches ice hockey, quilts and travels.
